Gigi Sudbury was born in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, in 1967.
She now lives in Dorset.

She is a painter, a mother, a partner, a carer, a friend, a guide.

No part of her life exists outside painting – the life around her is what and why she paints.

Gigi Sudbury paints everyday life. Being a carer is as much the act of painting as applying paint to paper. Nothing is distinct or separate, nor exists outside painting. Everything is in a state of potential and openness.

Her paintings bring visibility to the overlooked, the passing of small things. This is not statement nor description, nor a claim to permanence, only recognition of moments folding and unfolding, to be deciphered, traversed, revisited, lost and reimagined again.

Her work is made in the company of one's imaginations.

Her paintings are optimistic and a celebration of life.

''There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique, and if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium; and be lost.  The world will not have it.  It is not your business to determine how good it is, nor how it compares with other expression.  It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.''
Martha Graham

Be not afeard; the isle is full of noises, Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight, and hurt not.
The Tempest, Shakespeare
